Plasma Active on top of slackware on intel tabletpc?

Hi slackers,

Has anyone tried compiling and installing the apparent ``plasma active add-ons'' (the source for the latest version is at ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/active/3.0/src/) on top of a stock install of any intel version of slackware? It looks like a moderately complicated thing to implement, I thought I might ask around before I jump in (and possibly waste a lot of time).

I've got one of these intel "laptops" whose halves split into a keyboard and a tablet which also has a wacom stylus. I'm more familiar with the xfce desktop, I've never used KDE much, but xfce (as it is now) is not very touch-friendly. I'm curious to see how the plasma active interface works on this device (in fact I'm downloading a kubuntu active live disk image, just to see how that interface looks -- I would only install onto slackware though). With xfce I can't do much when it is in tablet mode at all.

Does anyone have any experience with putting plasma active on top of (intel) slackware?

Cheers,

Michael

Getting the individual components installed is probably the easy task. I looked into that briefly at one point. The most tricky/annoying thing is that you'd have to recompile a few kde packages with the patches provided at the link you posted. The more difficult thing might be runtime adjustments since plasma active is based on Mer, which has a rather different distro structure than slackware, especially in the choice of core components.
I didn't try it though, so I can't tell whether there are actually issues that could be caused by this.
