I installed it in a Virtual VM two days ago but couldn't reboot (probably my mistake). Will try to fix lilo.conf.

The installer is in Japanese only, but the dialog UI has tags in English, this helps.

Eventually I got lilo working after having edited /etc/lilo.conf, and X working after having built & installed the VirtualBox modules (fortunately the package kernel-source is shipped in Plamo).

In the pic you can see Plamo running Mate.

Now let me just a few minutes to learn reading Japanese
