Using Gentoo I know it's possible to compile a simple Mozilla with the USE flags "+moznocompose +moznoirc +moznomail." I'm not sure how to configure it manually, but I'm guessing ./configure --help will help you out and tell you how to build mozilla without these features.

actually, it sort of does... Firefox is intended as the Mozilla for those who don't want the whole suite of applications... it's just as stable IMHO and works well.
You can always install using the mozilla installer and choose browser only... may break epiphany and galeon though since they are built against the mozilla slackware package...

The slack .tgz packages all seem to be compiled with the oyher components included. If you go to the mozilla site, you can download and install mozilla using their install script, and IIRC, you can choose which components to install. This may be an option for you.

Remember he only wants the question answered. No, you can not just install the browser from the official Slackware mozilla package.

I'm sorry. Was I being too helpful?
I'll not try so hard next time.
