Recomendation: Don't be scared.

Now don't you feel better.

Anyway, let's say you just installed Slackware from a CD. Now you want to remove packages that you don't need. Go ahead!!! If you remove something you need, just mount the install disk that you just used and use installpkg to put the package back on the system!!! Easy as pie.

It's always scary doing something new. If you just installed Slackware, you are probably a little proud and a little scared all at once. This is the perfect time to totatlly mess stuff up. You don't have too much time invested in the system. Getting it back to where you have it is a simple matter of re-installing. Mess it up now and learn. Waiting until you have done inumerable config changes only makes re-installing more scary.

What you need (best guess): /A /AP /L & N/

That's gonna give you more than enough to run a "webserver". On a minimally related note, a question; what is a "webserver?" There are so many things you could mean: http, https, fpt, sftp, WEBDav, LDAP, SSH, IMAP, POP3, etc., etc., etc.... There are limitless things that you can "serve" over the "web".

I would say the best advice is:

1) Slackware 10.1 full install

2) Remove ~5 packages you don't think you need every other day.

3) Make sure that everything works every day.

4) If something doesn't work, re-install the stuff you removed the previous day.

You'll get there eventually.
