are you sure you had a clean kernel code? and was it the right patch, for the right kernel version?

what did he say when you applied the patch? no errors?

you could try to install the kernel sourches again, and than reapply the patch, and than build the kernel again.

yeah i tried that and the patch was for 2.4.22 ands thats what i had. no errors when i applied patch neither

when you compile a kernel there is a seperate section for boot logo.
this is in
Device Drivers--->Graphics support--->Logo configuration
just disable this, u can still use frame buffer, with no logo

but i like that penguin,

if you want "boot splash" things to work, u need to disable this
