PC card problem on Slack 10.2 with 2.6.18.5

Hi all,

I originally started out by posting this to the wireless networking forum, but think now it's more of a "my lack of Slackware knowledge" problem.

I'm trying to get an Orinoco Gold wireless card working on Slack 10.2. I have installed the 0.15 drivers and removed pcmcia-cs.

The 0.13 drivers wouldn't make for my kernel (symlink to Build directly all present and correct), so I went to 0.15. I removed pcmcia-cs because I think that has Orinoco drivers in it and my box was using those, and not the ones I'd installed. I need the 0.15 ones as I need to enable monitor mode.

I can now

Code:
modprobe orinoco
and the module loads well (as shown by dmesg and lsmod). However it doesn't add another network interface. Currently I have eth0 (wired), eth1 (ipw220) and lo (loopback). I have also yenta support compiled into my kernel.

How can I get my box to see my PCMCIA Orinoco card (and load my drivers) now that I have removed pcmcia-cs? Like I said, when I had pcmcia-cs installed, the card was found and worked perfectly - albeit with the wrong drivers.

Any help or pointers appreciated. Many thanks,

Mark.

Hold the phone... I think my original post is wrong.

I have reinstalled card services and can now see the card. I can't access it until I install drivers of some sort (which show up in /lib/modules/2.6.18.5/kernel/drivers/net/wireless).

So I think the answer is: if you don't have pcmcia-cs installed, you can access your PC cards!
