Pb with SD card

Hi all

I have just purchased an SDXC 64 Gb card formatted in exFAT.

I have tried it with Windows 10 : it is ok !

Same computer and same reader but with Slackware current :

- The SD card is not seen and of course not mounted

In /var/log/syslog I have found :

Feb 5 18:31:13 pegase kernel: [14134.137311] mmc0: error -123 whilst initialising SD card
Feb 5 18:31:15 pegase kernel: [14136.050156] mmc0: cannot verify signal voltage switch
Feb 5 18:32:11 pegase kernel: [14191.570449] mmc0: cannot verify signal voltage switch
Feb 5 18:39:37 pegase kernel: [14637.627027] mmc0: cannot verify signal voltage switch

What is this problem and how to fix it ?

you most probably need to install these two

@ponce

I have also thouhgt it was a problem with exfat; I have formatted the card in NTFS ( only choice under Windows ) but there is no difference.

After googling the error message , the problem seems to come from the SD card reader.

It is a Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS525A PCI Express Card Reader (rev 01) and lspci -k gives :

01:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS525A PCI Express Card Reader (rev 01)
Subsystem: Dell RTS525A PCI Express Card Reader
Kernel driver in use: rtsx_pci
Kernel modules: rtsx_pci

I found there is a bug in the kernel for this reader :

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202473

I have actually the 4.19.19 kernel and I do not know if it is affected.

most probably it is, as the patch cited in the bug report has been merged 8 months after that kernel has been released.

I have checked with a live USB stick and it works !

It was really this bug corrected in the kernel !
