I can't believe liloconfig doesn't work... that's utterly annoying. I can't think of anything right now, but thought I'd waste some space to let you know someone else is thinking about it too now (as in: don't stress, you're never alone).

:)

[EDIT: by the way, how does your lilo.conf file look?]

linuxnubx 07-29-2004 01:42 AM

I was thinking it was because I didn't mount my root right, but I'm pretty sure I did. I see the files and stuff, just no lilo.conf... When I boot with disc 2 and I want to mount my root, do I use "mount /dev/hda7 /" to mount my root? I set my root to hda7.

Why aren't you just using the Slackware install program? It has a nice little step in its installation that lets you set up all your partitions (so swap first, and then in the next step all your other linux partitions and then after that the windows partitions).

Have you tried to install GRUB instead? You might have more luck with that.

When you get to install the bootloader, just select "leave MBR untouched" (or similar) which then won't overwrite your currect Windows bootloader. I've never had any trouble with installing a bootloader to the MBR, however I always use GRUB, not LILO.

Okay, got it. I just used expert install. Kind of weird, but yeah, I think it's good now, thanks.

zsejk 07-29-2004 04:46 PM

Awesome! :) So you used the expert install option and installed to the MBR?

Yeah. It's working now. I added the Windows partition and Slack during the expert install just now, and everything works fine. I didn't even need to reconfigure lilo.conf, since I configured it during expert install. Thanks for all the help getting my partitions up and running. Peace out! A-town!
