partition scheme

Is there anything wrong with just making:

/boot
/
swap

???

The computer would be used as just a personal computer. Not a server or anything.

You can have only /, if you have enough ram.

well, this depends also on the filesystem you're about to use for "/". If this is XFS, e.g., a separate boot partition is strongly recommended!
