PAE problem in Slackware Current

I am currently running Slackware stable. It is stable now.
At the same time, I am trying to run Slackware Current 13.37 into my DELL Inspiron 700m, Centrino.
When i started to put in the installation CD, it said that my CPU having PAE problem. it can't load with the default kernal. Then i select huge.s to start with.

Installation finished but when i start the STARTX for xfce or kde, my screen freeze, keyboard and mouse are all freeze, making me no choice but to force shut down.

What's wrong with this? is my display not set right?

Another thing is my swapon -a not display any swap partition active even i had it in sda5(i am sure because i set it for Slackware stable).

How to activate the swap partition while i am running Slackware Current?

If you face freezes in X then first try with desabling composite extension. And by the way, What's your graphic card? (lspci | grep vga will show you more details if you don't know it).
Secondly Check out /var/log/X.org.log after the freeze it may give a clue.

And to share swaps between two distros, it should work nicely. As long as you choose to use the swap partition without formating it at installation stage of Slackware-Current, you will be ok. and for swap related information check out man swapom

My graphic card is:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)

How to disable the composite extension?

Checking the log file....

Looking at your Grapfic card, it could be very well composite extension.

Everything is fine now.
I think i did not set my swap partition before i install the Slackware. i reinstall everything by setting up the swap partition first then follow by system file installation.

It run smooth right away till the xfce. Now wicd installed and started my browser on internet.

It solve my screen freeze. And i am also able to use kernel 2.6.38.7
Again i don't really know how it solved. It just happened like that :)

What is the reasons when i first start the Installation CD, it said my CPU does not have the PAE features? I really don't know yet, but most important now is I am ON with SW -current.

If anyone can explain it to me will be very much appreciated.

XFce does not uses composite by default unlike KDE so it might be it.

And PAE is Physical Adresss Extension. Old CPUs tent not to have it. For details check out PAE. My old laptop did not have it and Slackware 13.37 run well. For a short info, as long as you do not try to use more than 4GB memory, it won't be problem.
