Installing the "X" disk set will get you all the necessary XOrg packages; unless you are looking to minimize that as well?
The new modular XOrg requires many times more packages than in previous Slackware releases, but you can trim out some of the unnecessary ones. The most obvious would be the fonts you don't need, and any input and display drivers you don't need on your system. Both the fonts and drivers have fairly descriptive package names, so it isn't too much trouble to browse through and note what you aren't going to be using.
Here's a list I used some time ago with packages I built using the slackx project build scripts. It's a fairly minimal list. If you plan to compile programs which use the Xlibs and/or related libs, you'll need the proto packages as well:
As always, the bulk of the size is in the fonts, so anything you can do to cut down on installed fonts is the quickest way to save space. Fot maximum binmary-compatibility, be sure to install all the libs packages. Then, only include the video and input drivers which you really need.
If you want to trim the list more, you'll have to work it out yourself. Your window manager may require more than what those few programs need. You can try installing just the server and Xlibs. Then try to start your window manager and note the errors from missing libs. Then add those and repeat the process until everything you want runs.
