I am going to be installing orinoco drivers tonight for my wireless card, but I just want to make sure I go about it correctly before I mess with any drivers. I want to install the drivers and then patch them with the patch available from
http://airsnort.shmoo.com/orinocoinfo.html in order to enable monitor mode.
If I download orinoco-0.13e.tar.gz from
http://ozlabs.org/dgibson and then
tar -xzvf orinoco-0.13e.tar.gz
I will then have the directory with the source files for the drivers in it. I understand that at this point, I need to patch the drivers. My only question is, what file to I use to patch with, and what command do I use? Is pcmcia-cs-3.2.7-orinoco-patch.diff the proper patch? Or is orinoco-0.13e-dragorn-patch.diff the right one?
Now, my next question is, once I have the patch, which command do I use to patch the drivers, and what directory should the patch be in when I run the command? Is it
patch -p0 < pcmcia-cs-X.Y.Z-orinoco-patch.diff
or
patch -p1 < orinoco-0.XX-patch.diff
Thanks for the help. This is with kernel 2.6.8.1 on Slackware 10
