Oracle on Slack

OK, Slackware gurus, I need your help. Linux/C newbie asking.
I am trying to get the Oracle 9i IDS 9.0.2 product working on Slack 9.1
It fails with a linking error in the install.
If I am checking this correctly, my current versions of glibc and binutils are:
2.3.2 and
Oracle doc says 9i IDS 9.0.2 requires glibc 2.2.2-10 and binutils
So, is there a way to add these versions, or 'downgrade' to them without breaking something else, or is this just a lost cause?

Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
