Oracle 9.2.0.1.0i on Slackware?
Hello group.
Today I had some success installing Oracle 9.2 on a Slackware 9.1 distribution, although with lots of headbanging and a full reinstall of the distro after Oracle had been installed.
In two words: I had to install Gcc 2.95 from the Slackware 8.0 distro, run Oracle installation (it failed in the installation process...), backup the installation directory, reinstall Slackware from scratch, and restore the Backuped Oracle directory.
I have some questions...
1. Has any one on this list had any success installing Oracle 9.2i without having any errors ignored? If yes, please explain...
My installation failed with the "hidden symbol 'stat' referenced by DSO" problem. Oracle works, but some of the tools were not compiled.
2. The CD-s from which I installed oracle were badly written, and all the files starting with a '.' (dot) were not written. As plain as it may seem these also include the java runtime startup scripts ".java_wrapper" for jre 1.8 and jre 1.3 and the ".extract_args" for the jre 1.8.
I kindly ask if anyone has these disks please send the .java_wrapper and .extract_args files to "sijaiko(at)hotmail.com".
3. I want to ask if there is some way to do the package-shifting withowt reinstalling Slackware.
I want to know it it is possible to:
a) uninstall GCC* packages on Slackware 9.1
b) install GCC* packages from the 8.0 on the 9.1
c) do the stuff....
d) uninstall GCC* packages
e) install GCC* packages from the 9.1 distro.
And if it is possible, how stable will be the installed system afterwards?
Comments welcome.
