Is there a Slackware package for Opera ?
And where can I get it, with dependencies it needs ?
Thanks.

A while back (12.0, maybe 12.1 Slackware) I DL the latest tar.gz opera binary from opera

And then I ran src2pkg on the above DL

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hlight=src2pkg

And the resultant Slackware opera package installed fine and worked superbly.

Alternatively,

http://slackbuilds.org/repository/12.2/network/opera/

I'm unaware if that's for the latest opera.

Alan.

Yes, Slackbuilds was my second choice. You'll have to find out and be responsible for installing any prerequisite libs and other dependencies, though. I have Opera running on my Slack 12.0, but I unfortunately did not make any notations in my notebook as to what method I used to install it. I'm pretty sure I used the LinuxPackages build that I linked for you in that first post. It works fine for me.

Luck with it...

P.S. There is a tar.gz version for Slackware at the Opera site. Just click here:

http://www.opera.com/browser/download/

... and choose Slackware from the pull down menu of distributions.

EDIT: Ah... I just noticed that Alan above has given you this info already. Luck with it...

~Eric

Which method did you use? Just out of curiosity...

Thank you.

But I still don't know how can I get profit from SlackBuilds.org with Opera ?
I know Opera is a closed-source application, So how can I build it ?
Except you mean I just make a Slackware package (tgz) from binary official package.

Yes, because binary installers rarely put things in standard locations (thank you Sun Microsystems for your VirtualBox installer which DOES!!!) Slackbuilds are worthwhile even for binary packages like opera and skype. It's not just about making a .tgz package, it's about putting the executables, libraries, and configs in the right places in your system.

There is a slack build script for Opera 9.63 at slackbuilds.org, it works like a charm for me on Slackware 12.2.
