OpenType Fonts?

Would like to know whether Linux (Slackware in particular) supports OpenType Fonts?

Have anybody tried using it? How did it go?

If it doesn't support OpenType Fonts, how can I make them work?

Can it be converted to TrueType Fonts?

Okay, I just need to add the font path into xorg.conf then?

Another question. Does the font files need to be at the directory I stated in xorg.conf or it can be in the sub-directories of the stated location in xorg.conf.

For example:
FontPath "/usr/local/fonts/"

But the actually location of the font file is at /usr/local/fonts/opentype/Arial/Arial.otf
Does it matter?

Anyway, I have added the font path to /etc/fonts/fonts.conf

The Font selector on gnome can display the fonts correctly. but the things that I change doesn't reflect it.

X11 can see and use OTF fonts in my Slackware (vanilla Slack11 + updates). But the real question is... How does one PRINT OpenType fonts?
