OpenOffice Base & MySQL

I installed openoffice 2 as per the instructions in the previous threads in this forum.

I have maybe 30 or so databases in mysql that I usualy manage w/ phpMyAdmin, but I wanted to give Base a try. However I am unable to make a connection to the DB, has anybody gotten this to work?

Do you have Java installed? If I recall correctly, that was one of the issues with OO.o 2, that it used Java much more and that some functionality, especially in OO.o Base, would be unavailable if you didn't have Java installed, at least the JRE.

Not that this is any guarantee that it's the source of your problem, but something to look into.

you need to download the java mysql connector, which has the jdbc driver and then I went to tools -> options -> java in swriter, then clicked on class path and added the jar file (mysql-connector-java-3.1.8-bin.jar) fired up base and it all worked
