OpenOffice 3.2.1 Checkboxes: Work under 13.1, not under 14
I'm using the same OO 3.2.1 under 14 as 13.1. My local openoffice.org config files are the same. And yet...those checkboxes, say under Paste Special, do not show a checkmark. A selection does exist, but it's not visible.
I suspect a font problem (duh) but I can't find what's missing. Anyone else see this? Ideas? |
Upgrade to 3.4.1. Here's the SlackBuild, which even does the downloading for you:

Honestly, I don't know. I only know that I'm using OO 3.4.1 on Slackware 14.0 on a daily basis, with no complaints.

When you upgraded to 14.0 did you remember to get Java and install it?

I took the trouble to look up "gcc-java," and learned that it wasn't what you meant. I used the SlackBuild for Oracle's jdk and installed it, but the problem persists. Guess I'll try kikinovak's suggestion and go to OO 3.4.1

Installed OO 3.4.1 but still no visible checkboxes. Finally realized that the difference between my 13.1 install and my 14 install was the use of the proprietary Nvidia driver under 13.1. I stuck with the "nv" driver under 14 because it had 3D accel and worked with GoogleEarth.
Long story short, installed the latest Nvidia driver and bingo, checkboxes work now. What a slog. At least I got the new version of OO though :-) |
