OpenOffice 2 Beta installation
 

I would like to hear some tips before installing the new OpenOffice.
Since we don't have an installer anymore, we should use the rpm2tgz tool for the appropriate conversion.
The question is whether this is enough or there are more tuning to be done.

The way i did it is to just unpack the RPMs into a folder, then

rpm2tgz *
rm *.rpm
pkgtool (current)
and that's it.

it will install it to /opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/
so just cd to /opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/program/
./soffice

Have you installed all the packages?
There are some Suse/Redhat Specific...

The menu packages are specific to either Suse or Redhat/Fedora, so you don't need to install them.

Ok, the installation was successful, but I have several problems with it.
One of the is that I can't add formulas to my document. Can you try please to insert a formula? maybe it doesn't work for me... When I click on it nothing happens...

I know you got it working, but just as an additional concern for possible others reading this thread, if you're going to use rpm2tgz, make sure you also have the cpio package installed. Otherwise it creates 0-byte .tgz files.

Have does one exactly install this on Slackware (10.1 if it matters)?

I can convert the RPMs to .tgz but that's it. Are there any usefull guides to install this on non-RPM systems?

When I tried to run the core1 RPM it said:

Sounds like you're missing a step. First, convert to tgz files, then run installpkg on those tgz files.
