OpenOffice 2 beta in Slack
 

I can just find RPM-files for OpenOffice 2 beta, so I guess I have to use rpm2tgz... Will that work ok?

Another question: Will the final release also only be available in the RPM-format?

I really like the installer in OpenOffice 1.

I imagine the final release will be the RPMs, as it's touted on the OOo site that they will release OOo 2 in "the native formats" (RPM? Native?!)

The advantage is that the RPMs are easily enough converted into proper Slackware packages, which can then be maintained using the package tools (installpkg/removepkg).

i found it the easiest to use the package from linuxpackages. installing it with pkgtool worked like a charme for me.

True, but I, along with many others, do not need all the packages that come in OO. That's why i'd prefer to either use the script, or find someone who has the packages in sections.

Also, the OO build in LP is 1.9.79, an old and very buggy one. I highly recommend using a .95 build and above (currently m100)

guess i'm just lazy and won't do that much trouble untill i see a stable 2.0 release. for simply having a preview of what to expect the 1.9.79 works just fine.
