I updated your packages.txt with this:

Code:

sed s/3.0.0-9358/3.1.1-9420/ packages.txt | sed s/3.0/3.1/ | sed s/ure-1.4.0-9358/ure-1.5.1-9420/ > updated_packages.txt
wget -i updated_packages.txt -B http://go-oo.mirrorbrain.org/stable/linux-i586/3.1.1/

Then as you wrote.

I've had it crash a few times, though, when opening .doc fles. I think I'll stick with slack's.

Thanks nevertheless. I thought OO has stalled.

You are correct, unfortunately.
I just opened a series of .doc files and it choked and crashed on
one I use quite a bit, so I removed Go-oo and installed Robby Workman's
package of OpenOffice.
Thanks for pointing out that problem. Too bad, because otherwise I liked it. The people at Go-OO tweaked the interface just enough that I preferred it to the "original" OpenOffice.

I'll have to test this, because it usually crashes less that regular openoffice.

You're right, I have found that go-oo 3.1.1 chokes on some .doc files. However, to test it more, I tried go-oo 3.1, and it does NOT choke on any .doc files that I tried.

It looks like a bug, maybe I'll report it if it isn't already.

Has there been any feedback on that bug report?

Well, I could find any place to submit one, go-oo doesn't have a bugzilla or anything.

There's a newer version you might want to check out:

Yep. I was poking around over there and clicked on something to do with bug reporting and found myself redirected to the OpenOffice site.
BTW, I've read somewhere that Go-OO is the version of OpenOffice used by openSuSE. True?

H_TeXMeX_H 01-24-2010 08:00 AM

It probably is because Novell is behind it.

I believe it may also be the default for *buntu.

jens 01-24-2010 08:08 AM

It's used by debian as well.

The lack of accepting community contributions in regular OO from Sun is one of the main reasons why go-oo exists.

I believe, and I could be wrong about this, that they will accept contributions, but you have to sign over all IP rights to them. This does not go down all that well with some people...

You also have to sign a contract in blood whereas all your souls are belong to us (stamped with pentagram).

I recently managed to contact the devs via IRC, and it seems that at least one of them can duplicate the error for 64-bit Linux. In fact on go-oo 3.2, it seems to not be able to open any .doc that I've tried. The problem will be dealt with probably next week...

Thanks for the heads up. Greatly appreciated.
