Only portion of screen used on ThinkPad

Hello:

I recently installed Slackware 10.0 on my Thinkpad 600. Things seem to be going pretty well but only a portion of the screen is used. It is in the middle of the screen. Any help will be appreciated,

Thanks

I had the same thing with an HP laptop that I used to own. In my case I needed to download a more recent bios. A setting wasn't being made to resize the screen.

Some laptops display the screen with a black border around the edge of the screen if you're using a resolution that's below the LCD's capability. That's because the stretch function is usually very ugly.

What resolution are you using, and what's the laptop capable of?

With laptop lcd screens, I would recommend using the "gtf" program and configuring the screen to use the native resolution of the monitor. This might help in X-windows, but I think a bios upgrade will be needed to expand the screen when not running the X11R6 server.
