I installed Slackware 14.1 on a Sony Vaio Series T. There are a lot of hiccup regarding the booting, but that was asked in another topic. In the end, I got a working system (to my surprise, even the touchscreen works). But there is one trouble:
I have two USB ports: one USBv2 and another USBv3. For some reason, the USBv2 port does not function under Slackware (it works well under Windows). Can you let me know how to detect the problem, and how to fix it?

What device does not function?

The outcome of lsusb -v is very long (more than 1000 lines), and I don't now where to look. Can you give a few pointers? Thank you.

Well, seeing as there is some output then your usb probably isn't broken.

I don't what you're trying to do. What exactly does not function? USB ports don't really do anything all by themselves.

There is a USB port that whatever I plugged in, I don't get anything.

The first USB port, whatever I plugged in, nothing showed. Nothing on dmesg. I could not mount a USB stick if I plugged it in there. And if I plug a mouse in, then again, nothing work. This is a USB port version 2.0

The second USB port, if I plug a USB stick in, I got a message asking me what do I want to do with it. I could mount it by hand if I want to. When I look at the output of dmesg, it showed that I just plug in something and assigned it to /dev/sdc1. If I plug a mouse in, it automatically works. This is a USB port version 3.0

In Windows, both USB ports work.

It sounds like you just haven't configured your desktop environments usb ports. Nobody can tell you how to proceed if you don't tell us which one you're using.

As for the first usb port,

Post lspci -v and lsusb -v and lsmod

Then do tail -f /var/log/messages with no usb device plugged in and then plug in something to the usb2 port. Then post what it says.
