Ok I think I got it ..... bootdisks ... am I right?

Hi. Want to install slack. I think I need bootdisks bare.i and net.i to install slackware. Is this right? I have an ethernet PCI card. Do I need to boot net.i floppy? Or do I just need bare.i floppy? I will be installing from 8.1 CD.

Are you trying to install over a network? If not, can you not boot from the install CD?

Yea you need bare.i for ide hard-drives and the 5 install floppies.
Had to do this a few days ago when I installed on a laptop without a bootable cdrom drive.

bare.i is your boot floppy
install floppies 1-5 are your root disks

Used to be only color.tgz for your root floppy but I guess the install got a little bigger. color.tgz is still there but it's over 2meg and wont fit on a floppy. So now they are using 5 separate disks for your root disks.
