O this intro s*it, anyhow...

Would like to ask, how many of you startx as root? As I did my little research, it's better to startx as root than as a user. What do ya say?

I believe X needs to be run by root (14.1 calls /usr/bin/X as root and 14.2 calls /usr/libexec/Xorg as root -- at least in runlevel 4... I suppose startx could be different), but startx should absolutely be run by a user. If not, then all the programs you start while in X (your DE/WM, your browser, your file manager, etc) are all started as root, which means any bugs or vulnerabilities in the previously mentioned software would be started as root. Bad idea for security...

Careful, folks. We are dealing with someone who's [lack of] intelligence allows to run startx as root.

I'll reply to everyone, but it just happens I've been watching your website today Mr. founder of MLED; life is full of surprises. Will download your distro and check it out. Thanks for the reply.

What, you mean there's documentation that might need to be updated?

Oh, we know that's out of date. SlackDocs is meant to be the replacement.
