nvidia problem when ending current session
I am experimenting with slackware on an older machine to get a feel for it before i migrate my main pc to slackware. Everything is working well, or i am finding solutions quickly enough. One new problem is occuring since i installed the nvidia drivers.
I went to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and downloaded drivers for my card, NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.12-pkg1.run, and installed with the command sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.12-pkg1.run and everything seemed fine. I started a new x session, but when i ended the session all programs shutdown ok, but then all that happened was the screen went black, i could not get any prompt. Ctrl+Alt+F2 did nothing, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace did nothing, Ctrl+Alt+Del was all that worked and my system rebooted, back to Lilo. I have no idea what is going on, and need help. |
Can you have a look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and check for errors - if there are any, can you post them here please?

As far as i can tell, there dont appear to be any.

I think there is now no problem. I went to xorg.conf and added
Modes "1680x1050" which is the resolution of my screen, before that i was using "1024x768", and now everything seems fine. |
I have the same issue with the latest ati driver (8.8).
I've added the correct "Modes" line in xorg.conf and restarted X but nothing changed. |
