Can you edit your post, and wrap the log output in code tags

Do things work if you switch to run level 4? As root init 4. I had a system that refused to startx, but was fine if I switched to run level 4. Never bothered to figure out why though.

What card are you using? That looks like the latest legacy driver? There were patches required for kernel 2.6.33.x (or maybe it was 2.6.32.x)on the then-current drivers, my guess is with that release date it's likely you'll need patches for that one as well. I'm assuming you were previously using Slackware 13 with 2.6.29.6?

Patches for the driver. I think it was because of some relocated kernel headers that got moved around in the kernel since 2.6.29.6. Check out http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=148417 for a possible fix.

I forgot, I was also having problems going into X sessions last night on one of my machines and it was due to a partial upgrade. I'd forgotten to do
Code:
slackpkg install-new
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...n-to-x-810107/ gives the rundown. I was able to get a gui login screen in runlevel 4, but I had instant crashes when I tried to login. I had to finish the upgrade (duh!) and then re-install my nvidia driver. I'm using 195.35.24.

I'd check the first link I gave you. They seem to be talking about the same segfault with the 2.6.33 kernel.

So does it work in init 4?

Works fine here (in run level 4) with the same driver on an mx400, and 440go.
