Now my sound is gone

Now that X is fixed, I can't initialize my sound server. I get an error right as KDE is loading that says sound will be disabled because there is no device. Any ideas?

I had the same problem after upgrading my Slack with swaret, along with some other problems with the GNOME (I don't know if it's your case). The way I got it to work: get kernel 2.6 working and after that get Dropline (I'm just a newbie giving some not deep technical advices) believe me, works amaizing now... But is a lot of work...

I usually have to recompile ALSA to get sound to work on a new kernel, maybe that'll fix it? edit: Is this a new install of slackware or just new kernel?
