There is a Font-HOWTO at the The Linux Documentation Project that has some good suggestions. http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Font-HOWTO/

There's also some Slackware specific information here... http://fairylinux.zapto.org/FairySer...T_FONTS&PAGE=1

when i try to compile:

cd /root/freetype-2.1.10/
./configure

i have 1 error:
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
See `config.log' for more details.
make: *** [builds/unix/unix-def.mk] Error 1

in file config.log i did not find the explanation

Did you install the C compiler? Type in "gcc -v" to see if it returns the version.

Or possibly you didn't install the kernel-headers package. It's in the K series of packages.

Maybe I can save you some time though and you can fix that problem later. I found a prebuilt package... http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=7431

The C sanity check error is also caused if the kernel headers are not installed.

I'm sorry... it's actually under the D series... for development. It's on the install CD at /slackware/d/kernel-headers-2.4.31-i386-1.tgz. Or check any of the Slackware mirrors.

The package I was trying to point you to at linuxpackages.net is a pre-compiled version of freetype with the bytecode interpreter enabled. You can just install it with installpkg and save yourself the trouble of building it. Isn't that what you're doing?
