Not detecting all of my ram?

It seems as if linux isn't detecting all of my ram (1.5 gigs), when I open system monitor or look at my ram info it only shows 883 megs. For example:

# cat /proc/meminfo
total: used: free: shared: buffers: cached:
Mem: 926187520 321286144 604901376 0 10485760 173813760
Swap: 998604800 0 998604800
MemTotal: 904480 kB
MemFree: 590724 kB
MemShared: 0 kB
Buffers: 10240 kB
Cached: 169740 kB
SwapCached: 0 kB
Active: 93044 kB
Inactive: 194092 kB
HighTotal: 0 kB
HighFree: 0 kB
LowTotal: 904480 kB
LowFree: 590724 kB
SwapTotal: 975200 kB
SwapFree: 975200 kB
(Also doesn't seem to be using any swap)

Any ideas?

Thanks.

ram missing

hello nathan546

To see ram greater than you do now requires a kernel compile.

You need to configure this in your kernel:
# CONFIG_NOHIGHMEM is not set
CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y
# CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G is not set
CONFIG_HIGHMEM=y
Then recompile.

search LQ - Slackware for it before asking next time. I, as well as well over 5 others have asked the same question, and got step by step details on how to get it to work, as well as problems that may arise.
