I just booted slackware 10 successfully at 1024 X 768 on a dell inspiron 1100. I am having difficulty with X, though. I attempted to load it from command line:

root@darkstar:# X

Unfortunately, this occurred:

(EE) VESA(0): No matching modes
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Hmm. I decided to try running "xf86config" from the prompt. But it doesn't exist! Is there another way I can change the config? Maybe another command to use, or edit the config file directly?
