No text in fluxbox with nvidia driver ...
 

Hi,

Just installed the latest nvidia driver on a fresh slack 10 installation, but when using this driver and running fluxbox via startx ... I see no text ? everything else is fine, resolution & refresh are perfect and otherwise the display looks good, just no text ? nothing on menus or the taskbar ... nowt :(

however just switching from the 'nvidia' driver to a vesa driver or something else in my xorg.conf seems to rectify the text problem (although then ... things like refresh etc. are totally out)

I see no errors about loading fonts or anything if /var/log/messages so I'm not really sure what it could be ...

Anyone have any ideas ?

sorry, I tell a lie, the display ISN'T ok other than the text not appearing, the menus seems a little weird also (apart from not having any text !)

could you post the output for :
tail /var/log/Xorg.0.log
tail /var/log/Xorg.1.log

When you start X with nvidia driver

yep I will do in a sec

just going to try the 6111 driver first, found a fair few posts with people saying they've had similar problems with the latest nvidia driver

ahha ! works fine, must have been the newer drivers that were causing the problem :idea:

hopefully this post will help someone else whos having the same problems anyway :wink:
