no swap showing in top

I installed a 512MB partition for swap when I installed slackware 10.1 and activated it but when I take a look at the stuff the command "top" shows it shows no swap at all, 0k available, 0k used. I also don't see an entry for it in my /etc/fstab. Something else I need to do?
