I've got slackware 9.0 installed on an older p2. I've got two 10gig hdd's on it, and up until a couple days ago i could mount both. Today I restarted and tried to mount the second hdd (hdb1) and got :
mount: special device hdb1 does not exist.
I mounted hdb1 the other day...the hdd is still physically there and i havent changed anything other than compiling apache and php...any ideas??
Check /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog for error messages and post them here please. Check dmesg if the kernel detects both drives. That could give us a clue what the problem might be.
Well, i feel pretty stupid, but at least no one said this, so i wont look COMPLETELY dumb.
What i was using:
mount hdb1 /local
What worked:
mount /dev/hdb1 /local
i'll remember that, for sure.
Thanks for trying to help.
