no sound output after update to current (Sep 12)

After update to the latest current (Sept. 12), no sound output, using pulseaudio. And alsamixer does not work either, got error:
ALSA lib control.c:1262snd_ctl_open_conf) Invalid type for CTL default definition
cannot open mixer: Invalid argument

After recompiling alsa-lib/alsa-plugins, everything works.

There is a need of rebuilding of alsa-lib package in -current, to match the latest kernel, you know?

The stock alsalib/utils packages are working just fine for me (running latest current but with custom 4.13.2 kernel). No rebuild required here.

Wait, alsa's supposed to be rebuilt anytime a new kernel is installed? That's news to me. I've went through many kernels on my system and for as long as I can remember, I never needed to rebuild alsa (although, maybe this was the case 5-10 years ago and I just don't remember it).

No, alsa does not need to be rebuilt because of a kernel upgrade. The issue must of been something else, maybe something the op did specific to his install? Alsa is working fine here too, but I don't have pulse so that might change things.
