have you tried chmod a+rw dev/dsp instead? it works for me everytime, i have done do so myself, after reading your post, i went to the link you provided, the President mouth was moving, but no sound, but after an chmod a+rw /dev/dsp, all of the characters started to make some sound. Try it.

I've seen that in mozilla and added artsdsp before starting mozilla as in;
1. Terminal: $ artsdsp mozilla
2. Shortcut" artspsp mozilla (just add artsdsp before mozilla)

If that works then use it that way or edit the mozilla script, probably in /usr/bin
Never seen this problem with konqueror, just mozilla.

Couldnt get sound or my net card to work with the 2.6 kernel
And more...

This doesnt mean im leaving linux im just leaving slackware.. Ill go back to xandros for now maybe ill switch to debian or something.. Unless someone can help me out with that.... (the problems that is) Well slack was good except for those 2 errors.... So either someone can help me or im leaving slack thx bye..

No offense, but it sounds like you are a semi-newbe and don't want to spend time learning it. First of all, I'm thinking you're using the STOCK KERNEL not 2.6. I could go on with the little info you gave, but I'm not. So you're probably better off not using Slackware

if you quit using Slackware Linux,you will be still asking questions here or in another forums how to that or this etc. while those people are advising to the new Linux users,why?what do I mean?well,I have used debian,redhat,mandrake,suse,but now Slackware Linux proudly!why I like Slackware Linux?it is secure,stable,doesn't crash,teachs me etc.while you are using another distro you learn that distro whatever it is,but while you are using Salckware Linux,you learn Linux that makes us advanced user slowly or faster!you learn!you have full power!you configure it like you want,not the progremmers want!Slackware Linux has no ads,no promotion,no advertisment.not even own Slackware Linux Logo anywhere!KDE or Gnome not preconfigured.you don't have to wait after relase to download or you don't have to be a private member to download,Slackware Linux is pure Linux and Slackware Linux is the Linux that Linux should be!it is fully open source!Slackware author and developers can make very good looking control center for configuration or gui installation and everywhere buttons and icons.it wouldn't be this perfect then!Slackware Linux is not for lazy people!anyway if you want easy distro there are hundreds out there sure you can switch choise is yours.
good luck

Well i love slackware dont get me wrong... Its just I want the 2.6 kernel to work properly and i want sound in java and flash.. I just dont like having to spend my time asking for help instead of doing things.. See it would just make more sense if slack came better made.. Like i shouldnt have to chmod the sound and all to hear it.. That should just be done on install... If i could only get sound and my network card to work in kernel 2.6 like it does in 2.4.45 then id hapily stay as its the dam best distro i have used...

for your sound issue do in konsole as root chmod +rwx /dev/dsp /dev/mixer.as for the kernel 2.6 personally I don't recomend!why?because it is in testing stage in every distro,third party applications still don't work with 2.6 kernel,why do you think in latest version of mandrake linux there are 2 kernels 2.4.25 and 2.4.26?why suse linux doesn't release the latest version?how about fedora?

Whats the differnece of doing that or doing chmod 777 ... anyways for the kernel the 2.6 kernel is stable and is not in testing maybe for the distros but not for the actual kernel.. Its stable and is an actual release not beta or anything....

maybe you had better change to a distro where there is kernel 2.6 is running and where flash sound works like you want!
good luck
