no sound from mplayer or xmms


From XMMS when the codec is oss the program seems to stall, when i use alsa i get an error saying my sound card isnt installed properly.
I get no sound or video from mplayer, just the following error message.

hi there

could u wait for siome time and see if the sound starts
coz i too get the sound starting after some time when different drivers are selected

the sound starts after a while on xmms using oss
not on mplayer though.

XMMS seems to play on ALSA when the output is NVIDIA NEC958(0,2)
However the sound is permenently muted in alsaconf. What is this NEC958? Why would it not work on the standard nforce2 sound but will on this device?

try this:
Code:
chmor 755 /dev/rtc
and restart the sound deamon
