Hi
I think you may well need to get hold of the 2.6 kernel, compile and install alsa as modules, run alsaconf again and you should be good to go hope that helps |
Alsa is already loaded as a module, do u think switching kernels is going to make a difference?
|
I would say so. Recompiling the 2.4 kernels, always results in sound loss, and I myself never figured out how to get it to work again. Under the 2.6 kernels, this is no longer an issue, and alsa is now the preferred module, oss is now deprecated under 2.6

I am having this problem too, except i am on 9.1 and not sure what kernal(whatever came with 9.1) and everything acts like its working but i get no sound. I am also using a Cmedia card.

To find out what kernel you are running now, just type uname -r , unless you have already upgraded to 2.6 , then your output will be 2.6.10, or whatever 2.6 kernel you are running , im sure 9.1 came with 2.4.18 , i think.

2.4.22

I have just been informed that running alsaconf will fix the problem, with no kernel upgrade necessary. Although, upgrading/compiling your own kernel could be an advantage to your general use. Good luck! (I had the same problem after upgrading to slackware-current)
