No read/write perms for HDD

My fstab is as follows

/dev/hdb3 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb2 / ext2 defaults 1 1
/dev/hdb5 /win_programs ntfs auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/hdb6 /win_installs ntfs auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/hdb7 /win_supercache ntfs auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/hdb8 /win_tv vfat auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/sda1 /win_c ntfs auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/sda5 /win_d ntfs auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/sda6 /win_e ntfs auto,rw,umask=000 1 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,owner,ro 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

as all my windows partitions have rw , unmask=000 shouldn't all users be allowd to read / write them?
Even root doesn't get write perms on win_c,d,e.. Please tell me a nonchmod solution. Last time I had used chmod and remove all executable resultin in me having to reinstall .

I have copied the fstab thing from Shilo's guide for Slackware 11. Oh and I am running Slackware 11 a fresh install.

Well, I don't think that linux can write to NTFS partitions by default. I believe there's a couple of projects out there to allow writing to ntfs, but I've had mixed results (which means I really borked up a couple of NTFS partitions just doing a simple file paste).

Hi there!
I downloaded the captive package but I could not compile it. I need bonobo package 2.0. and maybe some other dependencies. Do you know what the necessary libraries for the proper compilation of captive are and where from they can be downloaded?

Tramni1980,

Generally, I get dependencies from the Debian repositories. As it looks like you're using Slack, I really couldn't say. Sorry...
