no printer - slack 12 (hp laserjet)
 
We've got an hp laserjet 4L. I recently upgraded to slack 12. The printer functioned with slack 11. I'm getting this error.

can't lock /var/run/hpssd.pid, running daemon's pid may be 2790

Help appreciated.

how did you set it up? Did you use Kcontrol?

I think I used the CUPS manager to add the printer. For some reason, KControl wasn't listed in the KMenu anymore after upgrading to slack 12. Now I tried removing the printer and readding it using KControl and it gave this error when trying to test:
