no keyboard on fresh install of 14.2-64

A fresh install of 14.2-64 on a gigabyte AX370 motherboard (AMD Ryzen 7 1700) is producing a strange set of issues that have me beaten currently.

1. Install ISO hangs at the very start unless legacy USB is enabled in BIOS (regardless of whether disc is read via USB dvd reader or internal SATA device
2. Installation goes fine
3. On reboot all good up to login prompt - then no keyboard recognised.

The very same machine has happily been running current. Still working on it, chrooting in, but running out of ideas and bios permutations. Any advice very gratefully received and may save dry January becoming somewhat damp!

14.2 is quite old and doesn't have proper support for Ryzen chips. You might be able to get away with simply using a newer kernel on the machine.

Got an old PS2 keyboard lying around? That might be the simplest way to get things going in lieu of moving permanently to -current.
