No internet after ATi driver installation

After installing the ati driver on my 10.2 installation.
I now have 3d acceleration but no internet. My box is connected and has an IP address, but i cant surf the web or acess email. If i uninstall the driver everything works fine again. Any ideas anyone?

Just out of curiosity, have you tried doing an:

/sbin/ifconfig eth0 up

with the ati driver installed? I'm wondering if this is possibly a runlevel issue, with your init 4 scripts doing an 'eth0 down' for some odd reason. Can you ping anything by IP address (try ping localhost or ping 127.0.0.1)?
