That gave me some errors

Just remembered that i boot up with the command "nohotplug" could that be the problem?
Cause it hangs if i dont use that command.

didnt work either

With

#modprobe 8139

i got

Can't load module

And with

#modprobe 8139cp

i got somethin similar to the error i posted earlier

//this error may be inaccurate

Are you sure it isnt because i boot up with the "nohotplug" command?

did you try to use hotplug?
it should autoload it.
but just modprobing should work also.

also did you try 8139too ?( that is with the "too" )

ohhh, i thought it was a typo, i didnt try "8139too".
But i just did and it seemed that it accepted that one. It didnt output any messages at all this time. So i guess thats good right?
What is the next step?

And about hotplug, it does autoload but when its at this line
"activating hardware detection: /etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug start"
Then linux just hangs... I can only boot linux if i use this command

"nohotplug"

But that seems to be another issue since the command worked, so whats the next step?

btw, thanks for all the help so far from everyone thats trying to help me out.

It worked, i can get online now!!
And i really couldnt have done it without the help i got here!!
Thanks alot for helping me.

But just to finish this topic (cause maybe someone else has the same problem) ill post what i did.
After i typed

#modprobe 8139too
(which worked for me)

i also entered the following

#ifconfig eth0 up
and the important line that made the ethernet card work was

#hcpcd

I also did a netconfig somewhere during all of this and i choosed a static IP.

Its finally working now, and thanks again for all the support

if "dhcpcd" got things working, you'll need to choose "dhcp" when running
" netconfig ".( not a static ip ).
also you can add ( or uncomment ) the line " modprobe 8139too "
in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules, so it will load without hotplug.
then all will be setup at boot.

and for the hotplug prob. maybe better to start a new thread.
( post all hardware you've got on that pc + output of " lspci" ).
