Hey all-

I'm running Slack 10.1 with kernel 2.6.11.10. It's mostly stock packages except I upgraded KDE to 3.4 from -current and upgraded the X11 packages from -current too. I also upgraded udev as well.

Anyway, when I use the KDE Konsole as a user, there are no fonts -- I've tried changing between all the different font settings within Konsole but no change. Konsole works, because if I blindly type "exit" it will quit.

A couple of times I get a message that I am missing a fixed font:

and followed the steps to install the fixed fonts but still no joy.

I've googled around and searched this forum and found a few posts here and there but no clear answers.

I think I may have fixed it. There was a post in the thread I linked to above that said to add "/opt/kde/share/fonts/" to /etc/fonts/fonts.conf, which I had done and which made no difference. However, now I also added it to /etc/fonts/local.conf, re-ran the pkgtool font cache script and now it seems to work -- as long as the schema is NOT "Linux Colors." All other schemas seem to work except that one.
