I've just upgraded to the 2.6.10 kernel according the how-tos at the top of this thread. I had to recompile after the install to get the framebuffer and console text to show up at boot time. Now all that is done when i boot into fluxbox and try to open up rxvt all i see is a quick flash of it opening and then it's gone. Nothing happens at all when i try to open xterm.
Does anyone have any ideas where i should start looking to fix this problem? I'm actually quite happy with the 2.4.26 kernel but want to build LFS 6.0 and it asked for a minimum of 2.6.2 kernel. I used the 2.6.7 kernel from the 2nd cd and then tried to install the nvidia driver which then needed the kernel source code (i think). I thought it best in the end just to get over the fear of kernels and get it sorted. What i didn't expect was for something stupid like eterm not to work.
Thanks for your time and any help you can offer. Thanks for the good guides on kernel stuff as well.
