nm-applet issue

On my machine nm-applet seems to work perfectly for a few days/ hibernation cycles and then it changes. At first when you left click on the applet in the tray it shows available networks that are within range. Eventually the option of seeing new networks will disappear and you can only connect to a network if it is in your list of 'automatically connect' networks.

A reboot will fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Hi:

A couple of questions.

What DE are you using?

Is Network Mgr installed?

When this happens, Try manually running;
Code:
# iwlist wlan0 scan
When that's finished, nm-applet should repopulate the detected wireless networks. It's happened to me a few times in the past, and this is a workaround for me. Not sure what causes it though.

I checked and running

/etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager restart

will fix the problem without a reboot.

That's good news.

What distro are you running? CentOS?

I'm not good with KDE so I won't be much help there.
I prefer XFCE.

If all is good don't forget to mark your thread Solved.
