I have a problem with my NIC card i think. I have slackware 9 installed and i swapped it from one computer to another so its taking on all new hardware. Everything seems to work fine except the NIC card. At least that is what i think because i can't access the internet or my home network. Don't worry, i already did the netconfig command and set up my IP and all that good stuff but i just can't access the internet or my network. I don't know how to load another driver for this NIC card and ive looked everywhere on how to do it. Isn't there some kind of command that will probe my system and load the correct driver? How do i get this to work!!!!
What chipset does it use? lspci -vv (as root) might give you the info you need. Once you know the chipset you can track down the module you need to load.
well ... just use ( as root ) " #modprobe <modulename>
to do that at boot, you can add it in the " /etc/rc.d/rc.modules " script.
( also to see which modules are loaded, use " $lsmod " )
but first you must find out what module you need.
so....do you see it in " lspci " and what's the type ?
Ok, i found that it is loading the correct driver which is a Davicom driver but still can't access the internet and home network. I have no idea why...it was working perfectly in my other machine and was once in this very same machine. What do I do?
....or check the file " /etc/rc.d/rc/inet1.conf " to see if your settings are there.
if that's oke, run " # /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 stop " and " # /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start "
that should setup the eth0 and the default gateway.
check with " #ifconfig "
