There are several options that expect a number instead of the standard M/Y/N.
Did you try to manually insert the forcedeth module (modprobe forcedeth) to get your eth running?

yes, still doesn't work. i think it finds the module though, but i still dont have internet. 2.4 worked fine with nvidia drivers btw (did i say that already)
