Newly compiled 2.6/ Key repeating?

Ok, first the specs:

I have an Abit mobo oldschool style, with a Celeron 400 and a Celeron 466. From what I've read, I didnt think it would be possible for me to run different speed processors, but apparently it is. My bios loads up and says "Celeron 466mhz 2 processors" which actually kinda makes me think that its running them both at 466. Weird. Anyway.

The story:

So It was time for my first recompile. Slack 9.1 moved from 2.4.20 -> 2.6, took me 4 times to get it right and voila. I have sound, module support, blah blah. I compiled SMP support, set it to 2 processors. So I startx, it boots into Gnome, and I'm overjoyed. I bust open Gaim to tell everyone all about my greatness. I am moritified. As I type, randomly my keystrokes repeat 7-8 times. It's not a problem with the Gnome keyboard settings, because I didnt have this problem in the 2.4.20 kernel. I'm a complete newbie, dont get me wrong, but I just have this hunch that its because of the dual processors. While I'm typing, I can type fine for a few seconds, and then it'll repeat. If I type at a constant rate, you can see where it repeats and stops and repeats and stops almost in a pattern. Almost like my two processors aren't getting along or something. Windows 2k/XP pro never had any problem with them. For now I've had to disable key repeat, but that makes it a really big hassle deleting really big mistakes (which I make quite often). Any suggestions?

there has been a bit of traffic on the kernel mailing list on this. Check it here:

Come on man, you sent me to check out something that gets over 300 new posts a day, and I don't even know the source of my problem. I'm just speculating. And none of the search terms I've put in give me any results. I need a little more direction than someon just pointing me into a haystack and saying "find it."

After playing around some more, I realize that its not just my keyboard that does it, my mouse does it too. i.e. Ill right click, and the menu will go away really quickly, so I have to right click a few times before the menu comes up.
