Newbie Question About Connecting

Hi, I currently have Lilo dual booting XP-Pro and Slackware and everythings working fine, apart from I cant get Slackware to find a connection.

XP (ofcourse) found my router and brodband connection the moment it was installed, but being a total Linux newbie I have no idea how to configure my network.

I have run "netconfig" which hasnt helped.

I cant even ping my router or the other computers on my LAN, let alone the outside internet.

Is there some simple configuration utility Ive missed?

Well, can you show us the output of 'ifconfig -a'? Is it seeing your network card? Do you use dhcp or static IPs?

There's no simple connection utility in Slackware than netconfig.
First you should see if your card is detected.
Run ifconfig and check if you see a eth0 interface, it should be your network card. If it's not there, then find the apropiate module to load for your card and load it with modprobe.
Then you should be able to get it run with netconfig.

Do you connect with your router using DHCP? Do you have to dial to get online? Etc.. try giving more info
